Holiday gift basket drop-off details for emancipated teens
As the season of giving approaches and people look for ways to spread holiday cheer, Patient Care Services is working with Sacramento County to support newly emancipated teens from the foster care system.
Dozens of youths age out of the foster care system in Sacramento every year and find themselves without support from family. They face financial and emotional stress that make the thought of adulthood seem daunting and overwhelming.
To meet the needs of the newly emancipated teens as independent adults, UC Davis Health partners with the Sacramento County Department of Child, Family and Adult Services to give them holiday baskets. If you partnered with coworkers, friends, family, or made a basket solo, you will find drop-off information below.
Drop-Off Date: Dec. 7
Time: 7:30 – 10:00 a.m.
Location: Main Hospital – Discharge Reception Area near Parking Structure 3
A few things to remember:
-
Do not use duct tape to close the bin(s). Zip ties will be provided at drop-off.
-
Baskets cannot be dropped off in advance of the delivery date.
-
Do not leave baskets unattended; wait for someone from the committee to accept delivery.
UC Davis Health has donated the most holiday baskets – or as some like to call them, emancipation baskets – since the start of the program. This has amounted to more than 1,800 baskets given to teens in need.
